Scanning Mechanism for IPAM

Question

Need to know the IP Address Manager Scanning Mechanism if the ICMP is blocked completely on the network, there is only SNMP allow. How it works for a complex scenario. With complete routed network with VLAN's.

How it consider a IP as a Available or mark as Unavailable if there is no DHCP and ICMP is also blocked.

In this scenario, the IP addresses in your network will appear in IPAM as if not in use, or Available.

This will change when we implement Indirect Discovery. With Indirect Discovery we will be able to pull accurate IP status even when ICMP is blocked. I have a post that lists what we're working on here.
