3750 Stack Monitoring

I have searched, but there appears to be no definitive answer to how to (snmp) monitor member switches within a stack. Last night we had a failure of a stack member but we received no snmp alerts.

Can someone clarify what the approved method is for monitoring switch stack members from Orion.

We perform stack monitoring by checking the status of the stack interfaces and sending an alertif if they go down. This will not check the status of the switch in the stacking function but will at least detect hardware failure.

Thanks for that. I am concerned that this did not happen. I will be running a test on Saturday where I will again power down a member switch in the stack and see what happens. I have checked, and the stack ports are checked in the resources lists for the stack.

I had already looked there. As I said, I am concerned that my stack member that failed produced no alert, even though I am monitoring the stack ports to which it is connected.

Hi,
Make sure that you have set up the 3750 stack to send an allert when when an issue arises with one of its members by using the following command on the stack.
snmp-server enable traps stackwise
