    Toolset Integration Communication

    byrona

When you use the Toolset integration to get data that uses SNMP such as a live CPU gauge; does that SNMP communication use the NPM system as a proxy so that the NPM system is collecting the data and relaying it to the system with the Toolset, or is that data pulled from the system where the Toolset is installed?

I ask because it will determine if I have to open up SNMP to all systems with a Toolset installed or if I just leave it open to the NPM system.

      Thanks in advance!

No, there is no SNMP proxying being done with Toolset integration.

Okay, that is what I suspected but wanted to be sure.  Also thanks for the prompt response.

Having the SNMP proxy functionality as an option would be kind of nifty if it's ever something you guys would consider.  Not just SNMP for that matter but having the option to have NPM be a proxy for all of the stuff the Toolset does would be nice.  This would be like extending the NPM server to the individuals desktop.  However, having it as optional at the discretion of the NPM admin would be important.
