I have been looking into this and here is what I found.
Create the 2 views you want. The standard and custom views, then assign the standard view to the Node Detail view.
You will need to review the Database to determine the ID number for your custom view.
Open the standard view for your system (look at the url):http://.../Orion/NetPerfMon/NodeDetails.aspx?NetObject=N:139
You can then change the url to the following:(viewid=34& was added. 34 is the ID number of my custom view):http://.../Orion/NetPerfMon/NodeDetails.aspx?viewid=34&netobject=N:139 This tells orion to open the custom view for the node specified.
You will now see the custom page.
To make life simple, you can add a view on your standard page, so you can add a link to the new custom URL.
Excellent! Thank you.
The only slight issue is whether I can pass the nodeid in the URL
without sucess. Error message "Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation" is given. The Link is defined as a user link on the custom web page. Works ok if I replace $ComponetId with an actual node number N:1270
Also, for info - The viewid can be seen on the preview page when customising the view, saves digging into the database!
