Tip: Use separate spindles for NTA database and log files.

Because of the way that SQL operates, there are a lot of read/writes going on between the NTA database and the temp DB files. Having both of these on that same set of drive spindles can lead to serious performance hits. Here is one way to engineer around the issue:

      • C: Drive - RAID 1 array for redundancy. Contains OS SolarWinds apps.
      • E: Drive - 15 K drives,  RAID 0 array for speed. Contains all SQL temp database files
      • F: Drive - 15K drives in a RAID 10 array for speed and redundancy. Contains the NPM/NTA database. The more spindles, the better the performance.

      Hope this helps!
