Alert for being unable to access SQL server.

Is there anything in NPM or some other third party program that I can install on my NPM server to let me know if NPM has lost communication with the SQL server? I had my SQL server hang up on something which I have not been able to identify and was able to be pinged but windows had stopped functioning. All the NPM services were still running but I dont think it was able to report because it could not access the database.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Application Performance Monitoring or APM module of Orion would help

I would run into the same problem unless I put the SQL for that on a different server and hope both didnt go down. A long shot yes, but an expensive one.

JDuden-
I would recommend checking out APM anyway. It was specifically designed to monitor applications. You can try it for free and figure out if it will meet your needs in your specific environment.
