Which one works?

Andy McBride Nov 18, 2009 3:30 PM (in response to Saber123316)What usually gets me is the SNMP strings security tab. Have you added the comm string and allowed all hosts to acccess (Center of screen shot)? (or add the NPM server IP to the allowed hosts)

Re: SNMP Configuration
Saber123316 Nov 18, 2009 4:15 PM (in response to chrislevi)Ok I did not realize that the Strings had to be unique to each box.
simply changing the strings from box to box let them validate.

qle Nov 18, 2009 4:32 PM (in response to Saber123316)Strings are not required to be unique to each host. It's your choice whether to continue troubleshooting since it's working for you now.

from a management perspective I certainly wouldnt recommend unique community strings for each device.
As a general rule a single password strength community across all devices is fine. Some companies may have different strings for different security zones, but nothing more than that is really required
