    Seeking Cisco Wireless Lan Controller 5508 NCM template

    rschroeder

      Do you have a template you use successfully with a Cisco 5508 Wireless Lan Controller?  I'd sure appreciate seeing it.

      The 5508 gives you plenty of options to declare ahead of time, and I built them into the script.  But they stay in the 5508 unless someone changes them, so I shorted the script line to this:

      <Command Name="DownloadConfigIndirect" value="transfer upload start${+CRLF}"/>

      NCM errors out after that command, and I believe it's happening because the prompt changes from > to ) as the Controller asks

      Are you sure you want to start? (y/N)

      I've tried a few tricks without success yet, and have a ticket opened with SW.  But if someone out there could share their template with me, I'd be grateful.

      Maintaining control . . . for now.

      Rick

          Can you post your session trace?   Also, I'm not sure if there are differences between the 5508 and the 4400 CLI, but there is a 4400 WLC command template posted here:  Cisco 4400 Series Wireless Lan Controller

            The 5508 is shipped with WLC software 6.0.182.0 (and the 4400 series are capable of upgrading to it).  Cisco has changed the command syntax with this new release.  Use the template that Chris linked to, and edit the line:

            <Command Name="DownloadConfig" Value="show running-config"/>

            So that it becomes:

            <Command Name="DownloadConfig" Value="show run-config commands"/>

              Customer opened a ticket with support.  After a number of attempts here is what we came up with that seems to work:

                <Command Name="DownloadConfig" Value="show run-config"/>
                <Command Name="DownloadConfigIndirect" Value="transfer upload mode ${TransferProtocol}${CRLF} transfer upload serverip ${StorageAddress}${CRLF} transfer upload filename ${StorageFilename}${CRLF}transfer upload start"/>
                <Command Name="PreCommand" Value="y"/>

              The key is to let NCM update the controller software with the correct download criteria.  These commands were based off a doc we found on Cisco's website.

              http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/4.0/configuration/guide/c40mfw.html

                  Thanks Jason.   Closing to all further comments as this post is in the wrong forum.   I've moved this post to here:  Cisco Wireless Lan Controller 5508 NCM device template

                    I am having the same issue with a Nortel Secure Router 4134. I have the command correct but it asks "Continue with the upload ?(y/n) " and then it times out. I tried the

                    <Command Name="PreCommand" Value="y"/>  But to no avail.

                    Here is my trace:
