Question about SNMP Trap

We would like to receive SNMP traps by Kiwi and used to filter out some sort of messages and then send out alerts.

Would like to ask how do we know if the trap message are lookup or not in the MIB database ? We tried to check that out from the Unknown OID, for which we did not find the OID string we receive. So we assume that they are lookup in the DB already. But from the log file we recevied, we didn't find any difference in the file format / pattern in compare with those that are not lookup from the MIB.

Please advise.

Hi misw,
I'd suggest maybe changing the SNMP field tagging (Setup > Inputs > SNMP) from "OID=Value" to "FieldName=Value". If the MIB database lookup is happening correctly, then OID's should be translated into the field name.

Hi Kuz,
Thanks for your reply. Actually we are trying to monitor traps from NICE, as checked from the current database, we found that it supports NICE II MIB already, but seems it can't be resolved correctly as marked in Unknown MIB database
The MIB is 1.3.6.1.4.1.3167.1.3.2.5.6702

If the MIB database is missing the definition for NICE-II, then I'd suggest downloading the latest version of the MIB database, from here:
http://www.kiwisyslog.com/kiwi-syslog-server-latest-mib-database/
If the latest version still doesn't include the NICE-II MIB file, then you'll need to source the NICE II MIB file, and use the "MIB submission form" (from link above), to submit the MIB for inclusion in the MIB database.
