XMPP Alert Option

As part of the alerting engine I think that it would be nice to have XMPP as an alerting option.

I moved to Orion from the OpenNMS monitoring system and it had XMPP alerting capabilities. When an alert would be triggered it would connect to our internal XMPP server and send an Instant Message to the appropriate people.

I am curious if anybody has been able to do something like this with Orion or if perhaps anybody else would be interested to see a feature such as this?

I second this request.
I was looking for a XMPP client that I could use to send messages with from the CLI. My thinking was that if I could lauch an external app then I could send the message to my interal XMPP server.
I never was able to find a suitable client to do this.

To address this issue, I've written an XMPP client in Perl and compiled it to run on Windows. I've uploaded it to the Content Exchange portion of the site (). Hope everyone finds it useful.
