Probably a bit of a noob question, but could someone explain to me how generic node status is determined for a device?
The reason i ask is that we had a customers server go down last night, but NPM reported it as being up for some reason.
Its monitored over the internet from our offices, via the customers NAT router, via snmp.
I cant seem to get clarification as to whether NPM uses a commbination of SNMP and ping to determine node status. If this is the case then that would explain alot, because although the server was down, NPM would still be able to ping the customers router.
NPM uses ICMP for the Node Status.
SNMP is used for the Interfaces Status.
