I am having problem getting TFTP Server to work when my host with
TFTP server and client device are on same subnet using a LAN cross-over cable between both machines.
The assigned address for my host: 192.168.0.1, netmask: 255.255.255.0
and default gateway: 192.168.0.2 and for the client device: 192.168.0.2
netmask: 255.255.255.0 and default gateway: 192.168.0.1.
I get a timeout error. It is interesting to note when they are connected
to our data network ( between different subnets ) TFTP server works fine.
I found a solution to the described problem in Windows XP Firewall the UDP port 69 must be by exception unblocked. However, when the TFTP client and TFTP server are on different subnets this setup in Firewall is not necessary.
Any explanation for that ?
