Monitoring web sites using Website Response Time Chart

It would help us a lot to be able to monitor web site response time using the Website Response Time Chart and can't use SNMP or PING for one of the sites. The site displays the login page if I go to the URL with a browser, so if there was a way to monitor web site response using the HTTP or HTTPS it would fill that need.
