Currently we have NPM and a single extra poller, split as follows main NPM 9111 elements and the poller with 3922 elements. Between them they poll 10 sites.
From mid this year the number of sites being polled will increase to 246 probably around 80% of these will have no more than 10 - 15 elements being polled per site.
The design we have in mind is to replace the poller with a full NPM and also install a further NPM on another site and split the elements across the 3 using the EOC to consolodate the data and another web server to spread the load. I understand that the Hot Standby engine will not work in this scenario.
Is this a good design what are peoples thoughts, if anyone else is running a similar setup how have you built in resilience?
Would there be a DB at each of the 3 sites?
