Adding an interface for polling

I have several Cisco 1800 routers in my database that are being polled - I now want to be able to monitor the Fastethernet 1 interface (which is in standby mode) on these routers. I want to know when this interface is in the UP state. I can do this on an individual basis, but I was wondering how to do it on a global scale.
