I'm having an IIS and/or OWA problem on my Exchange server requiring me to do an IISRESET because of the IIS Worker Process error. Until I find out the root cause of the problem, it would be great if I could use Solarwinds APM (through WMI or SNMP) to monitor IIS for OWA availability so that I can catch the problem before a user calls and also create some type of time stamp since the Windows Event Log is not very informative.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this?
I would create an http monitor and use a test user account you can create with a mailbox. Then create an alert that either executes a vbscript to restart IIS or even write an eventlog message that could then trigger a script to restart it. I would probably look for more than one failure to trigger the action taken though.
