Hi Simon - you can change the name of the gadget by selecting the gadget in the Tabs tree and pressing 'F2', then entering the new name. The new name will show up in the Tabs tree, as well as on the Gadget it self.
And the rotating tabs are already on the list :)

Have you looked at how much memory the dashboard use? It eat a lot and having a laptop with limited memory, it would be hard to run it.
Yeah I have, but I'm running dual Vista Enterprise on dual Xeon @ 3GHz and 4GB RAM it doesn't even cause it to blink!
The way I see it is the dashboard is for fairly static machines, I have a laptop as well for going out to places, once the dashboard has done it's job of alerting me to any issues.
