Error starting "IpMonitorSvr" on 2k3R2

Hi there everyone,

I recently stumbled across the Solarwinds product lineup. I am interested in particular in getting the IpMonitor v.9 eval running. However, after I have installed the software the server refuses to start the "IpMonitorSvr" service.

I have tried this on multiple machines with the same result.

Is there additional software that should be loaded?

I even tried this on a clean install of Win2k3R2+SP2+all the latest hotfixes and updates.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Norton Symantec Endpoint Security can cause this. Do you have this installed? The workaround for this is to make a modification of the Endpoint Security Software.
You modify the Endpoint installation (Add / Remove Programs -> Modify) and remove the Application and Device control component, the ipMonitorSrv service will start normally (after a reboot).
