Backup Orion Config

Is there anyway to just backup the config portion of Orion?  We don't want to backup all collected statistics as our DB is over 300GB now.  Basically just enough to be able to import nodes quickly if the unspeakable happened.  Thanks.

I don't think so.  You could save your discovery database, but that won't give you everything you want.

Most of the statistics are stored in tables with names ending in _details, _hourly, and _daily.  Excluding these tables from backup would not backup stats.  There are other tables though that can be large that you may also want to avoid in your case - the ones used for traps, syslog, and netflow for example.

  • Is there any thought to you all adding this as a feature?  We just collect way to much to back everything up.  Our thoughts are that if something happens we just want to get Orion up and running again asap.

There is serious thought, but it's not in 9.5.
