    Orion NPM 9.0 SP2 now available (Aug 12, 2008)

SolarWinds Orion Network Performance Monitor 9.0 - Service Pack 2

This service pack requires Orion Network Performance Monitor 9.0, and it should be installed on all Orion Network Performance Monitor servers, including any and all Additional Poller, Additional Website, and Hot Standby servers.

To install this service pack, run Orion-9.0-Update.exe.

      • Orion Network Performance Monitor (Orion NPM) Service Pack 2 resolves the following issues:
      • Orion NPM now uses interface aliases set using the "set port name" command to poll interfaces on Cisco CatOS devices.
      • The SolarWinds Discovery database has been updated to include previously "Unknown" devices.
      • SNMPv3 nodes that are added using Web Node Management in the Orion Web Console now display correctly in System Manager.
      • Universal Device Poller charts now work correctly with interface account and view limitations.
      • The size of the custom text field below the Orion Web Console login has been expanded to contain up to 3500 characters.
      • The All Nodes - Tree resource in the Orion Web Console now correctly handles groups containing more than 100 members.
      • The Orion Syslog Service is now better able to handle poorly formatted syslog packets.
      • The Orion Module Engine no longer crashes after upgrading from a database where Interface Custom Pollers are assigned to currently deleted interfaces.
      • Traps can now be forwarded to ports other than the default 162.
      • Universal Device Poller performance has been improved for larger databases.
      • The Universal Device Poller now correctly polls large numbers of SNMPv3 nodes.
      • User-generated custom charts now display correctly.
      • The y-axis of packet loss charts has been corrected to always fully display a scale of 0-100%.
      • An issue involving the regular disappearance of discovered interfaces has been fixed.
      • "Get Table" Universal Device Pollers can now correctly generate labels for tables with varying column lengths.
      • Charts now correctly respect custom values configured in *.Charts files.

Orion Network Performance Monitor (Orion NPM) Service Pack 1 resolved the following issues:

      • Universal Device Poller gauges now display in the style selected on the Edit Poller page.
      • X-axis labels and scaling on charts have been fixed.
      • Custom Properties generated in Orion NPM are now available on associated Orion Additional Web Servers.
      • The Web Node Management feature of the Orion Web Console can now add nodes with dynamically assigned IP addresses (DHCP or BOOTP).
      • It is now possible to List Resources in Web Node Management for SNMPv3 devices that were added using Orion System Manager.
      • Nodes using SHA1 authentication that are added in Web Node Management now display correctly in Orion System Manager.
      • The AJAX Node Tree now loads as designed for Orion configurations with large numbers of defined custom properties.
      • Syslog reports now properly respect custom timeframe settings.
      • The Universal Device Poller now correctly parses formulas that could potentially return negative values.
      • Time periods currently display correctly on all Orion NPM charts.
      • Advanced alert actions that use the ${CustomPollerStatus} variable now return all values for Universal Device Pollers that poll tables.
      • Custom colors selected for charts now display correctly.
      • Universal Device Pollers now accept variables as designed.
      • The Universal Device Poller application now loads correctly for Orion NPM installations on high-performance servers.
      • Node Details pages with CPU chart resources now display correctly, even when CPU statistics are not yet available.
      • VLANs and other interfaces that report zero speed no longer default to 10 Mb/sec.
      • An issue in the Universal Device Poller that resulted in an "Item with the same key has already been added" error has been corrected.

In addition, a new version of the Job Engine corrects the following issues:

      • The amount of memory required by the Job Engine has been minimized.
      • An issue dealing with the size of the Orion NPM database that could cause Job Engine failure has been corrected.
