Unmanaged Interface VoIP-Null0:

With the latest Orion and Netflow, we keep seeing the infamous

"NetFlow Receiver Service [SWORION01] is receiving a NetFlow data stream from an unmanaged interface on 172.16.10.58. The NetFlow data stream will be discarded. Please use the Orion System Manager to add Interface #11 in order to process this NetFlow data stream"  error message.

We traced down the interface, and they are all coming from in interface named  VoIP-Null0:

If we go back to the Node resources in Orion, there isn't any interface by that name to add.

But the router command shows it:

Jacksonville-gw#show snmp mib ifmib ifindex
FastEthernet0/0: Ifindex = 1
Foreign Exchange Station 0/0/0: Ifindex = 14
Loopback0: Ifindex = 26
Null0: Ifindex = 12
VoIP-Null0: Ifindex = 11

 Any ideas?

Don

  • Hi Don,

Did you try rediscovering the device in Orion?

    Andy

  • Andy,

Yes, I did - no interface by that name

    Don

  • Next I'd try a MIB walk on that device to see if there is anything strange in the IF tables.

  • Mib-walker doesn't show that interface for some reason:

    lubbock-gw#show snmp mib ifmib ifindex
    FastEthernet0/0: Ifindex = 1
    Foreign Exchange Station 0/0/0: Ifindex = 14
    Loopback0: Ifindex = 26
    Null0: Ifindex = 12
    VoIP-Null0: Ifindex = 11

  • Hi Don,

For some reason your IOS is not populating the VoIP IF in the IF table. Have you checked w/ Cisco on this?
