Map showing up as a grey box

Sometimes this can happen if the SOLARWINDS_WEBSITE local user account doesn't have permission to read the background image file for the map. Generally this file will be in C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Maps. I'd check the permissions on that directory and see what you find.

... and sometimes this happens "just because..."

I routinely have problems with our maps displaying on the summary page in 8.5.1 SP3 and the user permissions haven't changed.

I either have to run the Configuration Manager or reboot the server to clear the problem. I was told that this was fixed in version 9.... I was counting on it. Hope it is....

 The permissions for that account are full control for all files in the maps folder.

 I've tried rebooting, restarting services, upgrading to 9.0 and still nothing.

Nothing works. All are grey boxes, even the example maps they give you. They show up fine in the map editor though...

Tried on both Firefox 3.0 and IE7.0

 You might look at the DEP settings.

On My Computer->Properties->performance->settings

check the DEP tab.

Make sure to turn on DEP for essential Windows Programs and Services only-

You will have to restart after applying.

A few more things to try -

Check the SOLARWINDS_WEBSITE and IUSR_<COMPUTER NAME> accounts, where <COMPUTER NAME> is the name of the server where you are logged in. Both of these accounts should be Local Administrators (Domain Administrator is not good enough).

2) Next go to Start-> SolarWinds Orion-> Advanced Features-> Orion Service Manager. Once the Service Manager utility is open, select the SolarWinds Orion NPM Com+ Application, and click the Unload button. Close the Service Manager utility and log into the Orion Web Interface.
