The Alerting systems within Orion allow for this sport of suppresion. If you click on the Suppresions tab in either alerting system you can create a dependency to prevent those alert storms. The Administrators guide covers this topic as well.
Thank you for your response. I'm looking in the Admin guide, as well as the application. I'm not sure this entirely addresses what I am looking to do, unless I'm missing something.
I want to do something like:
1) Node A Is connected to Node B by Interface A1
2) If Node B goes down, then so does Interface A1.
3) A Node Down alarm for B should be generated
4) An Interface Down alarm for A1 should be supressed
Unless I'm totally missing something,I think I could supress any interface on Node B that's being monitored, but unless I create an alert for every device, I don't see where I can tie the two together.
