Showing a node as down (red)

I've created a custom poller. When that custom poller equals a certain value, I want that node to be displayed as down. I'm reading through the documentation but am not understanding if I can do this. Say one of my custom pollers is monitoring a fan on a box. If the MIB value for that fan indicates that it's not working I want to be able to show the end user which box it is just by looking at the network map on the web interface.

Anyone? In basic terms, I'd like to be able to dictate if a node is green, yellow, red based upon some custom pollers(MIBs) that I assign to be monitored.

This isn't possible in Orion now, but we could consider it as a feature request.

I agree.... this is a feature we use in Whats Up Gold. We use it to monitor things such as down services on servers as well as over temps in our server rooms. If a service is down or temp is high it shows up as a purple color and sends out an alert.

There is a way to do this now, but it will take some configuration and is not ideal. It is more of a workaround. You can do this based on alerting. Create an alert that alerts based off the custom property trigger.

goodzhere, you took the words right out of my mouth. It's kludgey, but so long as you are going between two states, setting 'down' as a trigger action on an alert, and 'up' as a reset action works.
