    Prolem with 6509 VLAN Interface

      I have cisco 6509 with Hardware as following:

      I set up netflow :


      ip flow-cache timeout active 1

      In our solarwinds orion 8.1 & netflow 2.1, if i set up command ip route-cache flow  in vlan interface I can not see end point data. But when I set command ip route-cache flow  in L3 interface I see end point data.


       How can I collect end point data in the VLAN interface of our Switch ? Please help me !!!

          Hi,

          I had this same problem.   A 6500 in Native IOS mode uses CEF and MLS technologies to route traffic between vlans.  This means that the traffic can move at near line speeds and saves the msfc valuable cpu cycles routing traffic that can be switched.  Since the traffic never reaches the msfc it is never stored in the route cache flow database.   You need to enable MLS Netflow Data Export which will export the mls flows via netflow to solarwinds.

          Below are the commands I used to enable MLS Exporting:  (On a Sup720 you shouldnt have any performance issues but nonetheless I would keep a close eye on the cpu and memory after enabling it) [sh processes cpu sorted]  [sh processes memory sorted]

           mls ip multicast flow-stat-timer 9
          mls aging long 64
          mls aging normal 32
          mls flow ip interface-full
          mls nde sender version 5

          ip flow ingress layer2-switched vlan xxxx
          ip flow-export source Loopback1
          ip flow-export version 5
          ip flow-export destination xxxxxx  2055
