LDAP group membership

I am a little confused by the instructions for using LDAP. I am afraid I (and several others) were misled. Is it true we cannot use LDAP groups?? So if I only want 4 users of the 100 users in the sales group to have access, I need to move them into another DN? I cannot create a "Serv-U Sales User group" in LDAP?
