Processors at 100%

I have Orion and NCM on the same box, and since going to Orion 9.1 SP1 and NCM 5 Sp2, My processors are pegging at 100% quite often.  When I go into my task manager, the two things I see most are configmgmt.exe and configautodownload.exe all through the task list.

What does each of these jobs do, and how are they different from each other ?

I do have the RTC notification enabled, so I know that is one of the tasks

Thanks,

Doug

  • Those 2 processes are actually related.  When a syslog or snmp trap config change rule is triggered and kicks off configautodownload.exe, this spawns a configmgmt.exe to start the download of the latest config (to compare to last download) so we can show you what's changed.

We've improved queuing of RTCD downloads in 5.1 so if you're amenable to disabling RTC (need to turn off syslog or snmp rules triggering configautodownload.exe), that might be the best option to improve performance until this release is available (early Q1).

To mitigate not having RTCD running, you might increase the frequency of your config download jobs and check the box for notifying on changes.

Also, please be sure to open a ticket on this issue and include reference to this thread so we can be sure to notify you as soon as 5.1 is available.

    Thanks Chris.

I turned of RTC shortly after my initial post, and my server's performance has been MUCH better. I would like to turn it back on ASAP, so I will definitely be looking forward to 5.1.

    Thanks,
