Cisco WLC are not polling ?

I have a similar issue (At least I think so).  I was testing how long it takes a "thin" AP to be removed from NPM.  I disabled the port that the AP is attached to and waited.....and waited......and I'm still waiting.  The AP has been down for over an hour and it is still "Green" in Orion.  So much for monitoring "thin" APs.

Anyone have any ideas?

I've monitored WLC's in the past with no issues. In regards to the AP you disconnected, did it disappear out of the WLC?

Yes, the AP disappears from the WLC but remains "green" in Solarwinds.  I just brought it down again to time how long it takes to "disappear" from Orion.  Thanks for the response.

When you say it remains green, you just mean you can keep seeing it in the list of connected AP's? Do you use the down AP email alert?

I am using the e-mail alert and it is working.  The main problem that I am seeing is that when I bring the test AP back on line, the condition of the AP in SolarWinds does not change for hours.  This morning I brought an AP down and got the e-mail alert from SolarWinds, I brought it back online and after 30 minutes, the AP still shows that it is "disassociated".  Very strange.  Thanks for the replies!

I don't have any issues under 8.0.152.0 for my 7500's ?

8.5.151.0.  This morning I shut down an AP, got an alert (e-mail) from Solarwinds that the AP was down.  The AP is no longer listed under the WLC under "List of Thin APs".  When I bring the AP back online, I get no e-mail that it is back up and it won't "reappear" under the "List of Thin APs" for hours.

Very strange behavior.

I've noticed that as the AP's are lightweight, you only seem to get an up email if the outage was fairly short. If the outage is of a longer duration, it seems the AP is forgotten about so it just appears as a new AP.

What are your polling times set to?
