How can I get a top XX list of application on desktop and server using Memory or CPU

I am new to SolarWinds

I have a resource that will tell me how much memory is being used.

I have a resource that will tell me how much CPU is being used.

Now I want to know the top 10 application or process or programs (what ever you want to call it) that are using that memory.

When I get an alert that two many resources are being used it would be good to know what is using that resource.

I think I could right a scripted to grab this from WMI or snmp but not sure how I would use that.

  • This is the intent behind the following two out-of-the-box alerts.

    • High CPU Utilization with Top 10 Processes
      • This alert reports the percentage of CPU usage for Linux/Unix hosts running NET-SNMP as well as Windows devices. It also shows the top ten processes running to help you troubleshoot why this alert was triggered.
    • High Physical Memory Utilization with Top 10 Processes
      • This alert reports the percentage of physical memory being used for Linux/Unix hosts running NET-SNMP as well as Windows devices. It also shows the top ten processes running to help you troubleshoot why this alert was triggered.

sound promising but I do not see those alerts when I go to manage alerts.

what do I need to do to add them?
