Monitoring applicaiton URL's

Hey all

I've read a few posts about monitoring URL's within Solarwinds but I haven't really came across exactly what I'm after yet, Theres probably a few things I could bodge together but I feel its probably better to ask first!

What I'm trying to do is monitor .aspx/.asmx pages for the status code they return

e.g.

http://<servername>/<iissite>/hahealthcheck.aspx should return a 200 from invoke-webrequest

I know I can monitor urls like www.google.co.uk as nodes but i can't, by default, monitor the url above.

can anyone recommend any way to monitor a URL like the example above as a node and change the node status based on the result of the status code

You would need to use a script based monitor, the built in monitor is more focused on loading pages than response codes.

thanks for your response
i've looked at both those articles previously. What I don't understand about the powershell monitors is how I assign that to a node to monitor? Do i just assign that script monitor to any server or my orion server and populate the require field in the application monitor?
I just can't get my head around it.

ok so scratch my last response... I got it working.
My question now is that I have say 10 URLS that I want to monitor, but i only seem to be able to assign that application monitor once per node.
wouldi need to create multiple application monitors with different names to assign them to the same node or would you recommend assigning the same montor with a different variable to different nodes?

The powershell monitors can run locally from the orion server, or they can run remotely where orion uses powershell remote execution to run them on the node you assign the template to.

You can try creating component monitors inside the application template for the different URLs you need to monitor.
