Can UDT monitor Active Directory users that log into a network if one does not have SAM deployed?

I have worked in environments where we set udt up without sam, and I don't believe we ran into issues, but for the clients I work with SAM is pretty common so I can't say for 100% certainty.   You would need to add them in as nodes, and I'd just check if the edit nodes screen has the check box that says something along the lines of "active directory monitoring"

I didn't pay attention to that particular option when adding nodes to NPM, and there it is:

I assumed it would be simple to select all nodes participating in UDT and check the box above.  Then I second thought it; I'll have to test.  It looks like the box indicates checking it means the node IS and AD controller, and the box is NOT available when I select my Windows AD controllers to edit them, but it IS available for nodes that are access switches.  Hmmm . . .  Time for more searching & reading.

I have all of my Domain Controllers allowing UDT to successfully login to them, and my UDT user service account has the appropriate permissions.

Nothing's showing up for logins on switchports monitored by UDT . . .

Do I really need to have SAM installed to get logins recorded and showing up in UDT switch port records?

There's the challenge--all the extra items that my admin rights don't allow, and having to get other departments do the double-checking and troubleshooting on my behalf.  That's the challenge I bear as a control freak--having to rely on others for assistance.

Yeah tricky,  I don't think you can run cli commands to verify audit policy on the DC if you aren't an admin on those boxes
