hardware monitoring for network devices?

Hi forum and solarwinds

With the introduction of hp, dell and IBM server monitoring into APM, what is the plan to introduct at least basic hardware monitoring for cisco devices, routers, switches etc?  the trap parser is still pretty useless, so hardware monitoring is a nightmare without hundreds of UDNP's which are very dificult to manage, do not scale up due to manaement, and add lots of polling overhead to pollers.

what do you think?

cheers

  • I am really liking the SAM 5 features with our Dell Hardware. (Thanks SW SAM team!)

I saw this topic pop into my email and my brain went "Well of course!"

Hardware monitoring for network equipment, that would be great!! (almost all Cisco here so yeah, Cisco hardware please)

So put me down for 5th'ed emoticons_wink.png

I would think that it would make sense to add that to the NPM or the NCM module rather than the SAM module, since NPM and NCM is for more for network gear and SAM is more for servers.

    Just my 2 cents

  • I talked to sw when SAM was in beta and they said that it would have to be the NPM team that would need to do it, so I made a feature request here
