Move Repository off SQL Express

My DPA server seems to have run out of space. I am getting errors and my monitors are failing. We monitor 2 instances of Oracle and 1 instance of SQL currently, but i plan on adding another SQL instance to monitor. I let it install the default SQL express when i installed it originally. We hit the 10Gb limit. So now i have some questions

Can i put the Repo on one of the SQL instances i currently monitor with DPA?

How hard will this hit whatever server i put it on?

Yes, you can move the DPA repository to a server you are also monitoring, although it's not recommended if that is a production instance. How much the impact will be is hard to predict, so testing it at an off-peak time would be strongly suggested.

Cool, I have another DB server that i can use. It's not my highest performance one at the moment, but I will stick it over there for now. Thank you for the instructions!

DPA doesn't install a default SQL express. It could be you pointed the DPA installer to an existing SQL express instance. Out of the box DPA only asks for a database type to connect to either SQL Server, Oracle or MySQL. It does not install any of them, however. Just wanted to clear that up for others that might see the thread here.

I probably just installed it when It asked because at the time I didn’t have the other one I want to move the DB too. Thank you for the Clarification. I found a script to move the data to a new DB that runs on the lower level of SQL. I am going to get that done this weekend. Thanks!
