port mapper - retrieving IF description

HI everyone, when I was using solarwinds 2002, the switch port mapper worked great but now I am using 7.1 and whenever I use switch port mapper it seems to hang on - retrieving the interface descriptions.
Does anybody have any idea on how to resolve this problem
