Re: Application Alerts Not Showing Problems using "Components with Problems" variable on AppInsight Checks

Offhand I can't say for sure, but if I had to guess it's because the components you're referencing above are related to a sub-object of the application rather than the application itself. E.G. a website or database rather than IIS or the MSSQL application. Just a theory.
Either way, it sounds like a bug. Have you opened a support case on this issue so that we can track this issue internally?

Re: Application Alerts Not Showing Problems using "Components with Problems" variable on AppInsight Checks
bharris Sep 6, 2018 10:57 AM (in response to aLTeReGo)I have not yet. I'll do it now. Also, is there anyway to show the days left until expiration of a certificate that is being displayed as a sub-object in the IIS AppInsight check? I went through the variables in the alert creator looking for the number of days and couldn't find anything.

The days remaining is the metric returned by that component, so there is no specific field in the Alert Manager called 'Days Remaining'. It's simply the same metric field you would use for any other statistic component monitored by SAM.

bharris Sep 6, 2018 12:54 PM (in response to aLTeReGo)Do you happen to know the name of the metric? I went through the variables while having the IIS component selected and didn't find the metric.

Simply select 'Component' from the drop-down list of what you want to report on. It's not AppInsight specific. You can then specify the component name in the alert definition if so desired. It should auto-complete so you know you're on the right track.

1 of 1 people found this helpfulHmm.. You appear to be correct. This is obviously not how it was designed, nor the desired behavior. I, therefore, believe this is likely a bug. Especially since there is really no other way to include this value in an alert message using the field picker.
