    Oracle Database Monitor

    jdwinns

      Hello -

      I was wondering if anyone has any experience monitor Oracle databases with SAM? We are currently monitoring our Oracle instance with the "Oracle Database" application template. It's currently working great, we're using the "Oracle Data Driver for .NET driver" and a TCP port/protocol.

      I received a notice that we are upgrading/moving to SSL/TLS and was provided the new port. When plugging in the new port, I receive an error ORA-12537: TNS:connection closed.

      I reached out to our DBA and he provided a few lines to modify the sqlnet.ora and the tsnnames.ora files (see below) but the template does not seem to be pulling from these files.

      sqlnet.ora

      #===========================================================

      SSL_VERSION=1.0                             #5.13

      SSL_CLIENT_AUTHENTICATION=FALSE              #5.16

      WALLET_LOCATION =

        (SOURCE =

          (METHOD = FILE)

          (METHOD_DATA =

           (DIRECTORY = C:\app\Oracle\product\11.2.0\client_1)

          )

        )

      SSL_CIPHER_SUITES=(SSL_RSA_WITH_AES_128_CBC_SHA)

      tsnnames.ora

      DBNAME_TCPS =

        (DESCRIPTION =

          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCPS)(HOST = 111.22.33.444)(PORT = 12345))

          (CONNECT_DATA =

            (SERVER = DEDICATED)

            (SERVICE_NAME = DBNAME)

          )

        )

      The connection string in the debug output is different than what I have set in the tsnnames.ora which leads me to believe it's not pulling from this file at all. Does anyone know if TCPS is even supported or where this template is pulling it's config and if it can be changed?

      Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
