Reports Fail after latest update - Node Custom Property

Hi All,

I have had some reports which used a Custom Property called "NodeFunction" and reports previously working using this now fail as it's no longer an option for selection in the Report Writer (yes old school)

I was about to start digging through the SQL to manually create it however this was a feature before so I don't think it should have been removed.

Has anyone had the same issue? SW why was this removed and when will it be back?

Yep - creating a new one brought all the others back to life. Stupid SW. Thanks for all the help!

What is the error you are getting? Trying removing the custom property from the report and re-adding it back in as suggested in this KB article.

The issue is that the Custom Property is no longer available to select - it's completely removed and I have several.
Report Writer simply doesn't recognise them anymore.
I already looked at that article which is the exact error however it doesn't resolve the issue of the custom properties simply no longer being available to select and thus invalid.

how long ago did you create those custom properties and how is that report built.
From your description, it sounds like you created the custom properties and built the reports before the web-based reporting feature was added. Additionally, it sounds like the report is using straight SQL via the Win32 Report Writer application.
If that is the case, the database schema may have shifted and that's why the reports aren't working. My best guess is that they're still in place, but you may have to invest some time learning the new(ish) SWQL (solarwinds query language) to re-build the report.
Believe it or not, SWQL makes a lot of things easier, and better yet it future-proofs your work because it protects you from changes we make to the back-end schema.

Custom property was created over a year ago, maybe more.
Solarwinds has only been in place for a couple of years so version 11.X install - web reports have been available for a while however this was done in report writer.
It's not a straight SQL report - that would be easy to fix as I can pull the results with straight SQL easily.
When in the filter results selection if I go:
records where "Network Nodes" --> "Node Details" --> and there is no option to select custom properties - this is what I'm looking for.

Have you tried creating a new custom property and see if it shows up I know function is a reserved word.
