Can do you define custom controls?

I have been searching for information and/or documentation for defining custom command sets for devices on my network. I have become proficient with creating custom pollers to execute GET requests but have not been able to figure out how to define SET operations.

Specifically I have a SNMP based relay box that I want make a table that shows the current switch status and has a button(s) that the user can use to change the state.
