Updating properies of IPAM object with Powershell

FYI I can update custom properties via powershell, and the rights match rights in the web console. I am not sure what other properties you were referring to

I'll look through the documentation in the link to see if there was something I missed.

Via PowerShell, I want to load the Comment field in the IPNode object as well as populate the data in the 3 custom fields we created in IPNodeAttr.

My need is specific to IPAM, I do not have access to the managed nodes functionality (I believe that is a different SW tool).

When using the Set-SwisObject, it fails.

I found other forum data that suggests that Full Orion admin rights are needed for this.  My user has access to change data in the web interface, so I assuming that I do not have enough rights.

Below is the screen shot from the SDK Applicability.pdf I found once I installed the SDK.  It looks like this is not supported via API.

What version of IPAM are you using? Recent releases have significantly improved the range of tasks that can be handled through the API.

I found this at the bottom of the page.  I assume this means I am on 4.6.0.  I also installed the latest SDK.

I am also on 4.6 and updating the custom properties works with the SDK sample code, but your example was writing to Comments, and I think that is not a custom property, it likely would be updated with the code under the section: 'CRUD operations for IPAM.IPNode'

Thanks for the info.

If you can share specifically what you are seeing for the sample SDK code, I'd appreciate it.  With the multiple versions of the SDK and options for how to communicate with the API, it is a bit confusing.

I need to write to both the comments (found in IPNode), and custom properties (found in IPNodeAttr).  My code is trying to write to the comments field.  I'll tackle the custom properties next, I though it easier to do the comments first to eliminate any possible table linking issue.

I used the example in the SDK, edited for my system, and I am being flat out denied access.  I can change this property in the web page with no issue.

what access have you been granted, I will config my test account the same way
