Adding Solarwinds Server to a Domain

Hello,

I have prepared two new servers; one for Solarwinds and one for SQL.

I'm about to install NPM, I think I've followed all the pre-req's but I'm sure I read somewhere NOT to add the solarwinds server to your domain until NPM has been installed; can anyone clarify?

I would have thought that as long as you use a local admin account to do the install that it wouldn't matter whether the server has been added to the domain or not as no GPO's would be applied.

Our servers arrived joined to the domain; i have not had problems other than with TechSupport insisting I do things as a localadmin (we have no local admin accounts).
Personally, I'd start with it joined to the domain (I've other software like AV that breaks if you domain-join after install rather than before-install)

Our servers were joined to the domain long before the install was completed. I would be curious as to why it would even be recommended to do the join afterwards.

Same here. Installed NPM and NTA a few months ago, and the server was already joined to the domain.
