The gotcha you should be aware of are the SAM SNMP monitors don't poll a whole table, just a single value. I haven't tested it in a while but I also believe the SAM SNMP monitors only process results that come back as integers.
If those restrictions are a deal breaker then there is a second way to monitor SNMP values using a utility on the Orion server called the Universal Device Poller. You can define which OID's you want it to pull and it can process a wider range of things, including strings and snmp tables. The tool is a little clunky and slow but it gets the job done ultimately. There is nowhere that you will be importing your MIB, it already exists in the Solarwinds catalog but you have to manually set up a monitor to check the OID's it mentions.
