I'm considering adding my stock switches into the Orion inventory as External Nodes, just so I can stop using a spreadsheet to track them and already have all the custom fields populated when they DO move to prod.
Is anyone else tracking their not-in-service inventory this way? How do you go about this? Is there any easy way around them all having to have unique dummy IPs?
One issue I'm noticing now is that there doesn't seem to be a good way to set the Vendor. I can set all my custom fields, which cover most everything else though. Is there a way around this short of SQL edits? That's a handy bit in the reports we run.
