MONITORING DATABASE SPACE GROWTH

This should be available via SAM using the AppInsight for SQL template.

When you click into any of the databases you can get more info.

Clicking into any of the files gives you the historical trends.

I guess this is all assuming you're using MSSQL.

You should be able to collect that information from SAM, and indirectly even NPM would let you know by monitoring the capacity of disk volumes.

You can also set an alarm condition when growth rates exceed a specified percentage in 24 hours.

Wow thank you a lot! tried looking for it using DPA but it is not there. But I have a question, when I drill down the appinsight for SQL template, the server that I want to monitor is not there? Yes, it is an SQL server.

Thank you for this, really helped me a lot. But one thing, why is that the sql server isnt on the appinsight template? only some of our servers appeared. what could be the possible reasons why is it not there?

Just means you haven't applied the template to those SQL servers. Click on "list resources" for the node and choose 'AppInsight for SQL'

Also, note that AppInsight automatically calculates a daily growth rate for you
