Windows 10 clients will contact, but not report

I was wondering if anyone else has run into this type of problem. We're a bit behind the times at my company and are just starting to get windows 10 client workstations. The problem is they contact my patch manager server, but don't report so they don't install any updates. I was hoping to find out some possible solutions? If you need any additional information about our environment let me know and I'll get back to you.

Are you running WSUS 4.0 on W2K12 or W2K12R2? You need to have that and the post-WSUS install patches before you can patch Win 10 machines. WSUS running on W2K8R2 won't do the job. Deploy Windows 10 updates…

They show up as Windows (Version 10.0)

Our WSUS server is 2012 r2 and shows our update services as version 6.3.9600.18228. My next question would be we have downstream servers in our remote locations, but these are 2008 R2. Would these not be able to patch to Windows 10? That might explain why some are working and some aren't working. Let me know if you need anything else.

Requirements for Windows 10 servicing with WSUS
To be able to use WSUS to manage and deploy Windows 10 feature updates, you must have WSUS 4.0, which is available in the Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows Server 2012 operating systems. In addition to WSUS 4.0, you must install the KB3095113 and KB3159706 patches on the WSUS server.

While I don't deny that what you're suggesting is correct and everything I've read seems to indicate that it is true. I'm wondering if this is related to my initial problem of the machines not reporting? In this article it mentions that you wont be able to install "feature updates", but seems to say that regular security updates should be able to be pushed. I just want to make sure that what I relay to my management team is 100% correct. While I know we should start upgrading to Server 2012 to support Windows 10 I want to make sure that I have my ducks in a row.
