I would love some help trying to add a metric to keep track of query costs. My ultimate goal is to be able to trend the cost value so I can set the cost for parallelism.
I heard this doesn't exist out of the box. I guess I need to track down the tsql needed to capture the information and figure out how to add it to some DPA metric.

Have a look there and see if those queries help get you started on the data you are looking for. Once you nail the t-sql we can get you set up with a custom metric.
