Impossible route in NetPath

I've got NetPath looking at the path between the poller and the NFS port of a SAN at a distant data center, and it's doing something weird.

For the most part, it shows the path normally, but where it usually shows a route from the local router to the distant site router (with a 91% transit likelihood), 10% [sic] of the time it says it's going directly from the local router to the SAN itself.  Where is this information coming from and what does it mean?  It's physically impossible, but it has to be coming from somewhere.
