Network Performance Monitor

Is it possible to clarify if the Network Performance Monitor tool is a trap and syslog collector or just purely event management tool provides up/down status events only ?

  • Well it has a full feature syslog server, it does all levels of logging. It will accecpt all sort of logging your devices will send. It does not except "SNMP" type traps. The other tools ie... Network PerfMon and such, use a combination of ICMP and SNMP to poll devices and retrive information to display in tools.

It works great for me, wish there were a few more automated features but it does good for what most need it for.
