Failover Engine Failing To Connect Between PRIMARY and SECONDARY

    gag108

      Hi All,

I've recently installed Orion Failover Engine v6.7.0 - Additional Polling Engine however when I attempt to start the PRIMARY and SECONDARY nodes the service starts to shut down after a minute. Several messages appear from the system tray as shown below. Can someone please help out?

Licensing for the failover engine is not correct -- you will need to start the solarwinds licence manager and install/verify your FOE licence keys with support.

Note: the FOE keys need to match the number of installed 'primary' products (e.g. P2 if you have both NPM and NCM installed)

I find the whole FOE and additional poller licencing problematical as the tests for these happen inconsistently between products:

          a) FOE the check happens at run-time and it simply shuts down

               - there is no warning in the webUI unlike with the other products

          b) the installer licence checks for products are different to the runtime licence checks.

               - the installers check for an exprired licence, rather than an unexpired licence so if you have multiple licences installed some of which have expired the installer fails.

All, Issue was resolved. I had NCM installed on the same server as FOE and for some bizarre reason the license file didn't work... In the end SolarWinds had to provide me with a temp license file which worked.

            Thanks all for your help.
