Our WSUS server is running Update Services 6.2.9200.21630, but our Patch Manager server is running version 6.2.9200.17646 of the Update Services console. Patch Manager will not publish packages because of the version discrepancy. I've spent several hours troubleshooting this issue, but I am unable to find a Windows update that will bring the Update Services versions back in parity. Does anyone have any thoughts on how I can update WSUS to 6.2.9200.21630? Or how to reduce Patch Manager's sensitivity to the version? I'm running Patch Manager 188.8.131.527. Thanks.
Found the solution. Microsoft update KB3159706 was installed on our Patch Manager server, but it was NOT installed on our WSUS server. Patch Manager must have been trying to communicate with WSUS using a slightly different protocol, and installing the KB update on WSUS got both servers talking the same language again.
