Patch Manager 2.1.1.2005 and WSUS 3.0 SP2 are on separate Windows Server 2008 R2 and need to migrate to WSUS 4.0 to support Windows 10

What is the best way to migrate to WSUS 4.0 to support Windows 10 clients when my environment is Patch Manager 2.1.1.2005 and WSUS 3.0 SP2 are on separate Windows Server 2008 R2? Microsoft has documentation on deploying WSUS 4.0 on Windows Server 2012 R2 (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh852340.aspx) and how to migrate from WSUS 3.0 SP2 to WSUS 4.0 (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh852339.aspx), but what are the recommendations on the current Patch Manager 2.1.1.2005 install on Windows Server 2008 R2?

Can I continue to use our existing Patch Manger 2.1.1.2005 install on Windows Server 2008 R2 to manage WSUS 4.0?

If not what are the steps to migrate our existing Patch Manager setup to a new server running Windows Server 2012 R2?
